This post records the activation and usage flow for the esim.gg Estonia eSIM.
Use Case
Recently, GPT risk controls became stricter, and five of my accounts all asked for phone binding or secondary verification. I only had one overseas eSIM on hand, so I wanted a cheap backup number that could stay available for a long time.
This Estonia eSIM number range is not backed by a traditional carrier, so many services cannot be registered with it. In my test, however, it could still receive OpenAI / Codex verification codes through WhatsApp. When OpenAI sent an SMS directly to this number, the page said it could not send a text message to the number. Switching to WhatsApp verification worked.
Code delivery was slow. I waited about 5 to 10 minutes. One phone number can be linked to up to 3 GPT accounts, so as a backup for second or third verification, the value is acceptable.
Pricing and Policy
- Cost: the card-opening fee is 3.75 EUR. Coupon code
qiqi777iiiusually reduces the price by about 0.4 EUR. Coinbase fees are about 0.2 EUR; other methods are about 0.4 EUR. My actual cost this time was about 3.8 EUR. - Top-up and number selection: the default top-up is 10 EUR. If you only need verification codes, you can choose around 1 EUR and then select a free number. A 5 EUR top-up gives a 1 EUR discount for premium numbers; a 10 EUR top-up gives a 2 EUR discount.
- Number retention: no monthly fee. Activate the SIM card once per year and successfully connect to a base station to extend validity by 360 days. You do not need to receive a text message just to keep the number.
- Replacement and transfer: 10 free eSIM transfers are included. After that, contact the owner for replacement. The number can also be transferred to another account.
- Calls, SMS, and data: incoming calls are free in 120 countries and regions, including mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, and Korea. Receiving SMS is free. Roaming 4G data packages are about 1 EUR, with an Estonia IP, and can access ChatGPT, TikTok, and similar services.
Do not share the eSIM QR code, SM-DP+ address, activation code, or LPA information. After reapplying, transferring, or reactivating an eSIM, the profile on the old device will become invalid.
Activation Guide
Open the page:
Scroll to the bottom, agree to the terms, and click Next.
If the coupon is not filled automatically, enter it manually:

Then set the top-up amount and choose a number:
- If you want a premium number: search with the digits you like, select a number, and click
Next. - If you only need verification codes: change the top-up amount to around 1 EUR, choose a free number, and click
Next.
On the payment page, confirm the card-opening fee, top-up amount, number fee, coupon, and transaction fee. Choose the payment method you prefer. I used Coinbase here because it had the lowest fee.
After successful payment, the site redirects to the number management page. Click the newly activated Estonia number to open its details.
Installation and Use
On the number detail page, click Install. You will see the eSIM QR code, SM-DP+ address, activation code, and LPA.
If your phone natively supports eSIM, add an eSIM in the cellular or SIM settings and scan the QR code.
If you use a physical eSIM card such as Estk or 9eSIM, open the card management tool, copy the LPA from the page, paste it, download the profile, wait for it to be written, and then enable it.
After enabling it, go into the phone SIM settings, turn on data roaming, and wait for signal. It may consume a tiny amount of roaming data when first starting up. The amount is small; if you only need verification codes, you can turn cellular data off after the SIM is activated successfully.
The number detail page contains Rates, Messages, and Manage:
Rates: check call, SMS, and data prices for each region.Messages: send a test SMS to your Estonia number.Manage: request an eSIM transfer, replacement, or transfer the number to another account.
For OpenAI / Codex verification, choose WhatsApp first. Register or bind WhatsApp with this Estonia number, then wait for the code. Waiting 5 to 10 minutes is normal; avoid resending too frequently.
Final reminder: prices, fees, number policies, and platform verification rules all change. Before ordering or binding, rely on what the page shows at that time.
